Michael Flaherty's Next Move

On Tuesday, Boston Councilor at Large Michael Flaherty lost the mayor's race by 42 to 57 percent. Boston Mayor Tom Menino acknowledged that Flaherty posed a major challenge during the campaign. But Flaherty gave up his Council seat to run for mayor. Michael Flaherty discusses his next career move with Emily.


A Dangerous Epidemic

 

A new state report says the abuse of drugs such as oxycontin and heroin have reached epidemic proportions. There has also been a sharp rise in the number of drug overdose deaths.  Senator Steven Tolman, who chaired the commission recommending major changes from the justice system to prescription monitoring, and former drug addict Michael Bare join Emily.


Center Stage: Dead Man's Cell Phone, Speed-the-Plow and The Taming of the Shrew

Center Stage previews three new productions. The Lyric Stage Company’s comedy, Dead Man’s Cell Phone, David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow at the New Repertory Theatre and The Taming of the Shrew presented by the Actors’ Shakespeare Project at the Garage in Cambridge. Jared Bowen and theater critic Terry Byrne join Emily.
