Change to 89.7's schedule

WGBH is bringing WCRB 99.5 into our family of noncommercial, listener-supported public broadcasting stations. With the acquisition of 99.5, we are revising 89.7's schedule to develop a new service for our listeners that focuses on news, information, and analysis. As a result, WGBH will be discontinuing Blues on WGBH in December. We are grateful to host Brendan Hogan for sharing his passion, knowledge, and experience with listeners over the years. Read more >

Coming up on Blues on WGBH

Bonnie RaittSaturday, Nov. 7, 9pm on WGBH 89.7
Bonnie Raitt
A native of Burbank, California, Bonnie Raitt came of age musically here in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the late 1960s. She has been impressing audiences ever since with her bottleneck-style guitar playing and commanding vocals. Hear her on this edition of Blues on WGBH.

John HammondSaturday, Nov. 14, 9pm on WGBH 89.7
John Hammond
Hear one of the premier interpreters of blues music today, singer and guitarist John Hammond (born Nov. 13, 1942, in New York City). Not only is Hammond a solo performer but also a collaborator, having recently recorded with G. Love and Tom Waits, among others.

Booker WhiteSaturday, Nov. 21, 9pm on WGBH 89.7
Bukka White
Brendan Hogan features the music of Booker T. Washington White (born Nov. 12, 1909, between Aberdeen and Houston, Mississippi). White didn't play guitar, he beat it; he didn't sing, he barked.
